UOI: Simple machines
We transported weights (chairs) across the field in pairs and groups. After finding this challenging, we then introduced different types of machines (e.g. wheelbarrows) to assist us and make the work easier.
Here are the photos from the lesson:

Poetry writing
Examples of sonnet poems:
Unaware
Isolation quickly
overwhelms me
Begging for
forgiveness, a fallen hand
Desolation I now
begin to see
Hanging by a thin
thread, a single strand
I watch them.
Their fears, their misbehaviour
Mistreat, abuse.
Completely unaware
I am the land,
their glorious saviour
Someday they will
learn to treat me with care
I wish they would
learn to trust each other
To join as one, to
stand strong together
A bond, a band and
a mighty brother
Forever as one, a
powerful tether
You may not know,
that fear is their captor
So you may not see each special factor
Important things to note:
- A sonnet poem is made up of 14 lines each being 10 syllables long.
- The structure of an English sonnet poem is:
abab
cdcd
efef
gg
- The English sonnet has 3 stanza's (abab, cdcd, efef) which is a complete poem made up of four lines, and a couplet (gg) which is 2 lines that rhyme.
- Each stanza develops a specific idea but is closely related to the other stanza's.

Summative Task: Norwegian Term 3
Your summative task is to create a video to introduce yourself to a student over in a Norwegian school.
We will then send them to the class, so they can watch them (and hopefully reply!).
You will have two sessions to complete this (this lesson and the next lesson). I can then collate the videos over the holidays and send them.
Videos will have to be transferred to Mr Ahie's computer via an iPad chord or Air Drop (Air Drop is better). Whatever way, Mr Ahie will have to be able to access it.
You may work in pairs or threes (no more or no less due to having 15 iPads). You may use your own device if you can transfer the video to Mr Ahie's computer.
Here is a marking rubric. This will need to be completed for each student.

First attempt at Rube Goldberg machines.
Yesterday we had our first attempt at creating Rube Goldberg machines. For inspiration we watched videos of what other people have created.
Our aim was to get a marble from one side of the classroom to the other without touching it, and we could use any of the objects in the classroom to assist us.
Check out our take on Rube Goldberg machines below!
