Agenda Guidelines

Agenda books allow for communication with home and school, and assists students with time management. This book travels daily to and from school.

All newsletters and written communication from school will be “glued” into this book.

Whatever needs recording as a future reminder and/or record of expectation upon individual students will be recorded in an appropriate note form.

The agenda will be posted on the classroom blog daily. Parents and caregivers are free to check on the blog if a student is away.

Agenda Books expectations are as follows:
  • Entries are completed daily
  • Homework requirements, reminders and alerts to notices going home are written in, with enough detail to be clear to both students and parents (using subheadings makes these different aspects clearer).
  • Parents/caregivers sign entries daily for the month of February (after this time, teachers and /or parents can choose whether or not to continue with this process).
  • The Agenda Book is a communication link between home and school, and therefore notes to and from parents should be included in it.
  • The teacher provides a written model of what is to be entered in each day students then copy these messages (word for word) into their books.
  • This book must be treated with respect and be graffiti-free. High standards are to be maintained throughout the book, e.g. entries are dated, headings are underlined, entries are ruled off to define them clearly from the next entry, students write neatly, blue and red pens are used consistently rather than a mixture of colours.
  • An organized system is used to glue in and ‘file’ all notices and receipts going home. All notices are to be signed by parents to show they have been received and read.
